Black Women Speak is a community blog for black women of all ages, backgrounds and nationalities to speak from the heart to each other about everything! As black women from diverse cultures, we have our own unique challenges, a plethora of solutions and wisdom to spare. This blog for african american and black women is created just for you!
This is our time, space and place to share our ideas, concerns, stories, poetry, world views and more with our black sisters across the globe. Black women, just like you and me are destined to be mentors. We can cry, laugh, advise and dream together as part of our very own network through this blog for black women. We invite and welcome people of all ethnicities who may want to learn and share with us.
There has been a topic that has come up lately about Afro women and their hair, Chris Rock even made a movie about it. Why is it that everytime there is a Afro woman with extensions or weave, she has to have some kind of bad image about her heritage and where she came from? Why isn't it she likes to change it up without damaging her natural hair or just to lazy to comb it. I wear wigs, extentsions, and braids, I see nothing wrong with it. It is never two different textures always appear natural looking lol.
I feel like if I want to spend $15 on a wig, who are you to try to make me feel bad or guilty for not being natural? I mean i "naturally" went and worked for my $15, why can't I purchased what I want without backlash. Michael Jordan tennis shoes goes for over $200, and nobody is saying a thing. But those same men and women are fussing about my $15 wig versus over $200 pair of shoes that comes out with a new pair every other month. People you are taking this wayy too far. I love being an Afro woman and I wouldn't be any other person, but if I want to pay $15 of hair then stop tripping and mind your business lol. I get so disgusted everytime I look at Black film now black people are always finding something to complain about black women. This is my advice to you..shut up and stop hating! lol

I am with you on this one, I am so tired of hearing people who always have something rude to say about sistahs. If you don't like how a sistah dresses or how she wear her hair or the hair she brought then keep your comments to yourself. Sistahs are not the only ones wearing weaves or wigs, if a sistah want to change it up then guess what!? that's her business, if she works guess what? she can buy whatever makes her happy to the sistahs out there that are rockin a happy spirit I say keep a smile on your face and make magic ever where you go:) If you feel like sistahs are not in fashion this season or the next that's, on you but guess what? to a sistah we never went out of fashion so sistah keep it moving. I promise somebody will see a happy sistah who is happy with herself no matter what sizes and shape and say that's what I'm talking about a sistah with spirit it ain't nothing in the world like seeing a sistah happy with herself.
