Why he chose the watermelon comparison is beyond me. With his literate self, surely he knows the historical connotation of that word relative to a Black person. Rather is a hypocrite.

I was over in another site and we talked about this and do you know that some other blacks didn't see nothing wrong with what Dan said? girl I was shocked to say the least. I wondered where they been? I said you know what? people say some of the damnest stuff, that's why they end up in the hospital where somebody done knock them upside the head with a bag of nickels, Dan knew he was wrong for saying that tallking about down in south Texas when he was a boy I said Dan is not a boy any more he is damn near 100, back in the day I was a little girl too now I am a grown woman I out away my skates and the key a long time ago.

I heard Rather's comment on tv when he said it. I thought it was the most ignorant and tacky thing a person could say about a commander in chief. It had to be intentional as the connotation of watermelon eating Blacks is known to be historically denigrating. Rather is a horse's behind!
