Black Women Speak is a community blog for black women of all ages, backgrounds and nationalities to speak from the heart to each other about everything! As black women from diverse cultures, we have our own unique challenges, a plethora of solutions and wisdom to spare. This blog for african american and black women is created just for you!
This is our time, space and place to share our ideas, concerns, stories, poetry, world views and more with our black sisters across the globe. Black women, just like you and me are destined to be mentors. We can cry, laugh, advise and dream together as part of our very own network through this blog for black women. We invite and welcome people of all ethnicities who may want to learn and share with us.

I live in one of those cities where urban flight has left behind abandoned houses, and few jobs. That, added to current downfall of the housing market with its long-reaching effects, and the President himself saying it's going to get worse before it gets better, I am reminded of the proverb of the ant. While others are playing, we need to be working, so that when the hard times really hit, instead of being scared, we will be prepared.
I left my job in '04, they were trying to get rid of me anyway after 18 years, but I left on faith. So currently when people ask me what I'm doing, I say I'm working. And, I am, everyday, trying to redirect my goals towards entrepreneurship. I encourage everyone I speak to that is not working, get up and do something, because hard times are a coming. Get yo hustle on!
