Women are groomed on the ideals of sacrifice and service to others, unfortunately that also comes at the expense of our on wishes and desires. I will not tolerate any situation that I feel is not critical to my own personal growth. There are men that like to control women and beat on them while all under the perception that women should give in and take it. I won't stand for that. Those ideals are based on old fashion traditions that have virtually faded. Women have their one lives they should not be encouraged to stand by and watched their self respect and dignity go down the drain. I see that the lines of superiority in this world are unclear no rules state any specific authority that one gender or individual has over another.
Recently I was hit by my brother. He beat me up bad bruising my face with severe pain, swelling and blood. I had to walked in the hospital without any covering on my face because I had no shades. I underwent extreme humiliation and embarrassment. This was a feeling that I never thought I would face but I did. However it certainly assured me that I would not give into violence against women and the idea that women should take letting their self pride and worth go. Therefore I encourage all women especially us young women and even the married women to take the necessary steps of self empowerment by educating themselves and also using the prevention resources to help maintain their safety and dignity.

That d**k! I hope you got some good licks in. This isn't politically correct, but, I hit my brother once, but I made sure my dad was there to protect me. He deserved it. Did you file a report with the police? Men should not hit women. Period. For some reason, if a man hits another man, people call the cops, but if a man hits a woman, people turn their heads and say it's none of their business or that it's a shame. I say, if a man hits you, get a good lick in, and, then, RUN!!

I really hope you took the step of filing a police a report. He WILL do it again. Brother or not, protect another woman from what you went through and get him some help. I hope your mental and physical scars disappear with time.
