I was thinking it is the time of year, I could smell good things in the house, like apples, peaches, pears, as mom enjoyed canning. I love the fruit and veggies she canned. I hated to wash the jars and thier lids, I hated to peel, cut, shell and snapped the beans, peas etc. smile!!!

In the winter the food was the best. Fresh food without the additives. When I became an adult, she was w/ me doing part of the boys young lives. She did the same with veegies and fruit. I frozed everything that could be frozen. I had the chest freezer and will buy a half of beef and other meats, pork, and never had to do a lot of shopping.

I found out that the food was better for me it was great, to be honest, I could sew for the the boys(young babies, and myself, as well made homemade linens, etc.

Now, after going back to those October...autumn moments. I am going to hopeful try my hand on perservng basil.

If you wish to try it....fresh basil leaves, vingeritte dressings, and what cute little jar you have or wish to purchase.

1. layer fresh dry leaves of basil at the bottom of the jar.
2. a tiny bit of vingeritte dressing.(Your choice) and Olive oil.
3. garlic.... whole or chopped layer.
4. go and do #1 and repeat to the top.
Place in the refrigerator and used when need
try it, you might like it.

Until the next time>>> This is cooking old fashion way w/
